Neuroprosthetic Research System: Timeline
Phase ONE: Pre-production
March 29 - April 1
week 1 project conception & initial research
post 1 Abstract & Timeline [4/4]
Assessment of functioning and semi-functioning components & strategies from previous projects:- Emotiv BCI
- OSC network communication
- TouchOSC for iPhone (testing purposes only)
- Input & Outputs (Motors, Solenoids, qProx, sensors)
- Mechanical devices (gear systems, magnets)
- Code (Arduino, Processing, Supercollider)
- Fabrication strategies (laser, CNC, HAAS, 3D Printing, shop machines),
- Wearable/Mobile tools (Bluetooth, Arduino Pro Mini, rechargeable batteries),
- Design tools (Rhino, Grasshopper, Solidworks)
Aside from designing my own circuits and the incorporation of a transmission setup I will focus on refining the working components and fixing those that are liminally functional.
Research over the next few weeks will focus on the following areas:
- Neuroprosthetics
- Neuroplasticity
- Phantom Limb
- Body Schema
- PTSD in Drone Pilots
- Prosthetic themes in Art
April 4-10
week 2 abstracts & proposals
post 2 Historical Background & Bibliography [4/11]Continue research
Exhibition strategies: how will the work be experienced by the audience?
Prosthetic Memory Strategies: how might I approach uploading & downloading “emotional” data?
Design sketches & logic diagrams
Create modular code toolbox with copious notes
Test network communication strategiesApril 11-17
week 3 research methods
post 3 Circuit Design results [4/18]
work 3 Eagle Install & Tutorial [4/18]Refine working systems & components:
- Motor: after debugging the Anaheim motors during week one create code that responds effectivly to OSC input from both the BCI and the TouchOSC devices.
- Gears: redesign Rack & Pinion system and fabricate in more durable material
- Solenoids: experiment with best solenoid & design for wearable haptic input
